The love I’ve received is breathtaking – Kuami Eugene shares health update

Musician Kuami Eugene has provided an update on his health for the first time since his accident on Sunday, March 17.

In a post on his Instagram page on Friday, March 28th, the singer expressed gratitude to God, his family and the staff at the University of Ghana Medical Centre for their exceptional care.

Kuami Eugene also conveyed appreciation to his fans and the general public for their prayers since the incident occurred, assuring everyone that he is doing well.

“I want to say thank you to God, My family, the staff of UGMC and all of you for your prayers, your positive thoughts and your acts of kindness. The support and love that I received have been breathtaking and beyond my expectations,” the post read.

Additionally, he attached a picture of himself in the hospital to the post. He was spotted in a cast seemingly due to a broken hand.

Nevertheless, he was seen making music from his hospital bed with his equipment in the room.

Kuami Eugene was involved in the accident which occurred at CP, close to the DSTV office towards the Dzorwulu traffic light in Accra.

According to the Editor for Modern Ghana news portal, Emmanuel Ajarfor Abugri who witnessed the accident, he was right behind the musician’s car around 11:30 pm.

He explained that a tipper truck was in motion but moving slowly when the musician crashed into it from behind.

He believes the accident occurred because the N1 highway was dark due to a lack of street lights, while the tipper truck also lacked a tail light, thereby worsening visibility.

He believes that the accident would have been fatal if Kuami Eugene had not been cautious and was overspeeding.

Mr Abugri told Myjoyonline.com that he only noticed it was the musician in the car with one male passenger when he went closer to offer assistance.

Mr Abugri said some motorists who stopped volunteered to rush Kuami Eugene and his passenger to the hospital while he stayed behind for the police to arrive, gave his account and also handed over the tripper truck driver to them.

Meanwhile, The Vice President of Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Prof Dr Ernest Yorke, revealed that the supposed doctor who disclosed Kuami Eugene’s health status on social media after his accident is an imposter.

Amina Haarun had posted on social media saying the singer’s condition was not looking good and called on the public to pray for the artiste – causing panic among fans.

However, according to Dr Yorke, after investigations, the GMA did not find any Dr Amina Haarun on the record of the University of Ghana Medical School where Kuami Eugene was hospitalised.

Additionally, she is not on the roll of doctors of the regulators, The Medical and Dental Council, nor is she registered with the GMA, Prof Yorke noted on JoyFM’s Super Morning Show on Monday.

He said that “she belongs to none of these institutions and therefore we can say she is not a medical doctor.

“So, quite clearly it looks like an imposter who is pretending to be a doctor and seeking to malign doctors and put the name of the profession into disrepute.”
